A hedge

Welcoming
clear winds
rain and dew
flowers and birds
a hedge declaring
the boundary.
inside this wall
there’s facile exquisiteness
smooth rhymes of
placidity
the temptation of
quietness
lingering gentleness.
Greeting
the waltzing sunlight
the muttering starlight
and the shadowy mist.
a hedge
a door never locked.

Nightlight

I
don’t know why the world’s sinking
in this redolent space
light
magnum opus of
human wisdom
a brobdingnagian tribe
in the town of
nightingales.
